HVAC safety integrity management, fire damper maintenance and reliability analysis will be just some of the topics up for discussion at a half-day forum entitled “The Air We Breathe” on 27th November. The seminar is a partnership between Latent Ltd, IES Ltd and Genesis Oil and Gas Consultants with the event hosted at Genesis training facility in Albyn Place from 08.30am. For those unable to attend, the event will be supported by an online industry website/forum: http://www.airwebreathe.co.uk
Stephen Connolly of the Health and Safety Executive will open the seminar with an overview of HSE standards and procedures. Stephen says “The KP3 projects’ initial inspections highlighted the poor condition of TR HVAC systems and their operation when smoke or gas is detected in the ducts. As part of the project, examples of good and bad practice were identified alongside the importance of sustaining effective safety maintenance. We hope to explain this and educate the industry through this seminar whilst also addressing safety issues to prevent future accidents.”
Peter Adam, Operations Manager at Latent Ltd. says, “The seminar should raise the profile of the HVAC and reinstate its importance for the isolation of an emergency event and sustaining life. We want to discuss practical solutions for managing safety integrity by drawing on our experience in developing performance standards, maintenance benchmarking, failure analysis and its mitigation. It’s vital that safety integrity management strategies and systems exist and we hope to educate the industry on the most effective modes of implementation.”
Roddy MacPherson, Facilities Engineering Manager of Genesis says, “The seminar will bring together industry professionals to discuss the latest issues affecting the industry and showcase HVAC safety systems. The aim of our collaboration is to share knowledge and highlight safety technologies and management practices for HVAC that really work and make a difference to the lives of personnel.”
Ewen Beattie, Contracts Manager of IES added, “HVAC is an oft-forgotten technology, however it is critical in preventing incidents with the Technical Safety Requirement (TSR) integrity to protect employees. There are many safety factors to consider when working on an offshore installation and reducing the occurrence of accidents or injury to personnel is in everyone’s interests. Equipment rejuvenation is critical to assuring equipment is fit for purpose and to demonstrate integrity, especially in the mature asset environment.”
