Latent Ltd has been awarded a six figure contract by Shell. Over a six month period the Aberdeen based asset management company has rolled out a reliability engineer logbook associated with all production critical equipment on Shell’s European assets.
Peter Adam, Operations Manager of Latent Ltd explains, “The aim of this initiative is to promote the reliability of production critical equipment on all Shell assets in Europe.”
According to Peter the reliability engineer logbook will help reliability engineers monitor and track the performance of production critical equipment.
He comments, “The initiative should encourage asset reliability personnel to be more proactive. By logging performance data on a regular basis the reliability engineers will be able to monitor the effectiveness of the production critical equipment. Any downturn in efficiency should be noted and subsequently lead to the engineers determining whether any maintenance is required.“
“Taking this approach and carrying out maintenance as and when it is required can prevent major equipment failures and consequently platform shutdowns; thus resulting in improved performance efficiency and significant maintenance cost savings for the operator. It should also lead to platform shutdowns being carried out at the optimum time.”
