Clay Pigeon Shooting - Macdonald Pittodrie House, by Inverurie

Latent Ltd hosted its first clay pigeon outing on 4 July. The challengers were members of Stena Drilling’s Ullevi House and the event took place at Pittodrie House.

The afternoon started with lunch in the hotel and some refreshments (to blur the opposition’s sight?) before progressing into the Hotel’s grounds for the shoot.

The format of the clay shoot can be adapted to suit most sizes of groups and levels of experience, and can provide a wide variety of shots (approaching, departing, across, etc). The selection for this year even included a horizontal ‘fleeing bird’ scenario, that gave milliseconds for the ‘sharp shooter’ to loose off his or her deadly salvo! Needless to say, the majority of ‘birds’ avoided the onslaught!

The eventual winner of the day was Stena Drilling’s Jim Cairney, a novice who until the day had not even seen a shotgun! Taking home first prize was some consolation for a ‘little’ teasing he received from his colleagues for asking “what are clay pigeons made of?”
